HeartTalk
In this project case study, I will be sharing my experience designing the visual identity for an app called HeartTalk.
The goal was to create a culturally sensitive digital platform that helps Asian immigrant families have meaningful conversations about mental health. HeartTalk aims to foster understanding between generations, educate users on mental health in approachable ways, and reduce stigma through storytelling and shared support.

Process
Conducting in-depth user research
The design process began with in-depth user research to understand the needs and challenges of individuals looking to monitor their health. This involved interviews and surveys to gather insights into their health habits and preferences.
Designing personalised health dashboards
Based on the research findings, I focused on designing personalised health dashboards. These dashboards provided users with a comprehensive overview of their health metrics, including heart rate, steps, and sleep patterns, all customised to their specific health goals.
Integrating AI-powered health advice
A significant feature was the integration of AI-powered health advice. This involved designing an interface that provided users with personalised health tips and reminders based on their health data, encouraging them to maintain healthy habits.
Outcome
Although conceptual, HeartTalk deeply resonated with peers and mentors during critiques and presentations. The project created space for conversations about the emotional needs of immigrant families and showed how UX design can build bridges across cultural and generational lines.
Designing HeartTalk taught me how to approach stigma with cultural empathy and intentional design. It was a deeply personal project grounded in research, compassion, and a belief that technology can support healing when rooted in human connection.
